This week, we continue our highlights from the new Super Bowl LVI Legacy Program – Champions Live Here – by featuring five impactful nonprofits doing critical work in Watts, South LA, Compton, and beyond: Destination Crenshaw, East Side Riders Bike Club, Esperanza Community Housing, Food Forward, and Girls Inc. of Greater Los Angeles.

We’re excited to welcome all 56 Champion organizations for specialized Annenberg Alchemy training next year!

When completed, Destination Crenshaw will be a dynamic expression of Black American culture in the United States. This stretch of Crenshaw Boulevard will be transformed into a thriving commercial corridor linked by architecturally stunning community spaces and pocket parks, hundreds of newly planted trees, and over 100 commissioned works of art.

East Side Riders Bike Club is a volunteer organization in Watts with a mission to improve Watts through community service, charity work, and bike programs aimed at keeping local youth out of gang activity.

Esperanza Community Housing seeks to positively impact the following community needs: inadequate organized recreational outlets for local youth in the Watts area, a community that is rife with high rates of child obesity, asthma and other respiratory challenges amongst youth; lack of safe passage and travel routes; and much more.

Food Forward is a Southern California organization on a mission to reduce food waste and increase access to healthy fruits and vegetables through food recovery.

Girls Inc. of Greater Los Angeles provides hundreds of girls with life-changing support and real solutions to the unique issues they face, including support and programming for schools in South Los Angeles, Compton, and Watts.
