Community Grantmaking Spotlight: Homes for Families

Founded in 2008, Homes for Families (Homes 4 Families) is focused on meeting the significant need to equip and prepare veterans and their families for movement up the economic ladder. The County of Los Angeles is home to more than 280,000 veterans, nearly 5,000 of whom are homeless – a rate that has increased rapidly in recent years. In partnership with the California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet), Homes 4 Families provides comprehensive wraparound services in addition to housing through the Enriched Neighborhoods program for military veterans, servicemen, service women and their families. Homes 4 Families has built or repaired over 374 homes, including five Enriched Neighborhoods in Southern California communities such as Burbank, San Fernando, Pacoima, Sylmar, and Santa Clarita.
