Western Center on Law & Poverty was formed in 1967 by a passionate group of attorneys and legal scholars from USC, UCLA, and Loyola law schools who were driven by the belief that low-income Californians deserve the finest possible legal representation before every institution that shapes their lives. Legal issues include access to justice, financial security, health care, and housing and community stability. CGM funding has provided support for the organization’s Education program in the Greater Los Angeles region. Through its Education program, Western Law provides in-depth technical assistance, workshops, webinars and trainings, and publications to community-based organizations regarding the public policies, programs, and resources that affect its low-income clients.
