Years ago, Chairman, President and CEO of the Annenberg Foundation Wallis Annenberg wanted to help counter the disturbing, growing isolation of those who are aging — a critical issue of our time, with 11,000 Americans turning 65 every day. 

The Wallis Annenberg GenSpace opened in L.A.’s Koreatown in 2022, and today has become a vibrant community center where older adults thrive.

Wallis and journalist Allison Aubrey discuss this remarkable innovation in this feature for CBS Sunday Morning, which spotlights some of the incredible members of the GenSpace community!

When asked, “How can you replicate this model…?” Wallis says, “Well, it’s very nice – but it takes leadership; it takes organization; it takes a team to do it. If someone has the passion for this, it could be replicated. I’d love to think so. I’d love to see one on every block.” Learn more →
